LAFC super sub Mahala promises to buy Arango dinner after match-winning combination against D.C. Uni
Cristian Arango will be getting treated to dinner by his Los Angeles FC team-mate Kwadwo Opoku after the latter s winner against D.C. United.
Opoku – commonly known as Mahala – came off the bench to net his sixth MLS goal of the season on Tuesday to see off Wayne Rooney s team 1-0 in California.
That brought up a seventh straight league win for LAFC, who are well on course to win The Supporters Shield.
Mahala s goal, the 15th scored by an LAFC substitute this season, came just five minutes after he entered the fray at Banc of California Stadium, with the hosts leading scorer Arango turning provider.
Arango could have gone for goal himself after latching onto Carlos Vela s throughball, but instead squared for Mahala, who took a touch to steady himself …
According to a recent report from Bild, Liverpool are in the midst of the frontrunners in the race to sign Jadon Sancho. The Borussia Dortmund youngster appears to be edging closer and closer towards leaving the German giants, with a number of teams across Europe being linked. Liverpool are one of them alongside rivals Manchester United, with Real Madrid also keeping an eye on proceedings.
They believe a deal could even be struck during the January transfer window or in time for the window opening, which makes sense, given the fact that Sancho doesn’t seem to be in Dortmund’s good books right now.
The relationship between the two parties has deteriorated dramatically as the weeks have gone on, to the point now where it’s hard to see him starting another game f…
OGC Nice are interested in signing Nicolas Pepe on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the 2022/23 season and the two clubs are currently negotiating a potential move, according to .
The Gunners have been scouring the market for a new winger all summer, and having seen their primary target Raphinha pick Barcelona as his destination, they re believed to be still on the lookout for potential addition to their wide attacking ranks. That, along with the presence of the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe, clearly shows that Pepe, the club s record signing since arriving for £72 million from Lille in 2019, has no place in the plans of manager Mikel Arteta.
Arteta, however, refused to discuss the matter with the press ahead of the match against Bourne…
Lyon sacked head coach Peter Bosz on Sunday and confirmed his successor will be Laurent Blanc.
The seven-time French champions lost patience with Dutchman Bosz, whose second season at the club began brightly but has quickly deteriorated.
After taking 13 points from their opening five Ligue 1 games, suggesting they might challenge at least for a Champions League place, Lyon went into free-fall.
They halted a four-match losing run in the league when drawing 1-1 against Toulouse on Friday evening, but that point at home was not enough to save Bosz, a former Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen boss.
The dismal sequence of defeats had been Lyon s longest in the French top flight since March 1991, when they also had a four-game run of losses.

Curtis Jones and Takumi Minamino struck braces as a much-changed Liverpool cruised past Lincoln City 7-2 in an entertaining EFL Cup third-round clash on Thursday.
Jurgen Klopp made 10 changes from the side that beat Chelsea 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, with only Virgil van Dijk keeping his place, but they still had more than enough firepower to swat aside their League One opponents.
Xherdan Shaqiri got the visitors on their way inside the opening 10 minutes, whipping a superb free-kick into the top-right corner, before a fine strike from Minamino and a double from Jones made it 4-0 at the break.
Minamino added a fifth immediately after the restart before Tayo Edun pulled one back for the Imps on the hour mark.

Tottenham s managing director Fabio Paratici believes Antonio Conte s exit was the right decision for everyone and is confident interim boss Cristian Stellini can oversee a successful end to the season.
Conte and Spurs parted company on Sunday, eight days after the Italian launched a remarkable rant in the wake of his side squandering a two-goal lead in a 3-3 draw at Southampton.
As well as labelling Tottenham s players selfish , Conte appeared to criticise the club s hierarchy by adding: Tottenham s story is this – 20 years and they never won something. Why?
While Paratici acknowledges Conte – who recently missed several games after undergoing gallbladder surgery – has endured a difficult few months in his personal life, he believes his exit will benefit…
Karim Benzema will miss the World Cup after the France striker suffered an injury blow on the eve of the tournament.
The Real Madrid captain, who missed Les Bleus triumph at Russia 2018 while out of favour amid an ongoing blackmail investigation, was set to play a big part this time for Didier Deschamps team.
Benzema won the Ballon d Or last month after a spectacular 2021-22 season that saw him score 44 goals in 46 games for Madrid, helping the Spanish giants win LaLiga and the Champions League.
However, he has been troubled by physical setbacks this term and the most untimely and crushing of all blows for the 34-year-old came on the day before Qatar 2022 was set to get under way.
Benzema only resumed full training with France on Saturday, after recent mu…
Marti Cifuentes says there were three big moments that decided Queens Park Rangers 2-1 win over Luton Town in the Championship on Friday.
The Hatters took the lead in the 18th minute thanks to Jimmy Dunne s own goal, but a quickfire turnaround in the second half secured the three points for Cifuentes side.
Michael Frey was the standout as he set Nicolas Madsen up for the equaliser in the 59th minute before scoring the winner himself just three minutes later with a wonderful first-time volley.
It is QPR s first win of the season, following back-to-back draws against Sheffield United and Plymouth Argyle, while Luton are still without a victory since dropping back into the second division.
Cifuentes was pleased with the fighting spirit shown by his side, poi…
