Manchester City cut annual losses in half

Manchester City have announced huge losses for the second year in a row, with the club losing 97.9 million pounds during the last financial period.

City reported turnover for the same period of 231.1 million pounds, the highest in the club s history and a rise from 150 million pounds the previous year, but still underwent a significant overall loss.

The club s inability to progress from the UEFA Champions League group stage is believed to have had a huge impact on their turnover.

However, the figures represent a marked improvement from the season before, when City lost a total of 197.5 million pounds.

Meanwhile, the club posted marginal increases in gate and TV revenue, and more than double their commercial revenue from 64.7 million pounds to 121.1 milli…

Wiegman ´not worried´ about World Cup preparation despite England´s unbeaten streak ending

England manager Sarina Wiegman was not worried despite seeing her team s undefeated streak end at the hands of Australia.

The Lionesses went into the friendly on a 30-match unbeaten run, but lost 2-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium on Tuesday thanks to goals from Sam Kerr and Charlotte Grant.

It came just days after the European champions won the first ever women s Finalissima against Brazil on penalties, but Wiegman is not concerned as England prepare for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which gets underway in July.

I m not worried. I don t worry very quickly, she said after the game. We know we have to be at our top level and that s when we go into the World Cup too.

Every game we get some warnings – against Brazil we got some warnings…

Liverpool midfielder Suso is on the verge of signing a new contract with the Merseyside club, .

The Spain U21 international, who is in the final year of his current contract, had recently been linked with a move to AC Milan though those reports were dismissed out of hand by the players agent.

Having spent last season on loan with La Liga side Almeria, Suso returned to Anfield in the summer and has made just one appearance so far this season, as a substitute in last month’s penalty shoot-out victory over Middlesbrough in the third round of the Capital One Cup where he scored minutes after coming on to give his side the lead in extra time.

Aside from that outing, the 20 year old made twenty appearance in all competitions in his debut season in English footbal…

Fredericks becomes Pellegrini´s first West Ham signing

West Ham have completed the signing of right-back Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer from newly promoted Fulham.

Fredericks starred as Fulham won the Championship play-offs at the end of the 2017-18 season, but the club failed to agree a new deal with the defender, allowing him to move across London and become Manuel Pellegrini s first signing as Hammers boss.

He told West Ham s official website: It s amazing for this deal to finally happen.

Bale to remain at Real Madrid, agent says

Gareth Bale is likely to remain at Real Madrid for the 2019-20 season, according to his agent.

The Wales international was reportedly on the brink of signing a lucrative deal with Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning after falling out of favour under Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.

That deal fell through on Sunday, though, with Madrid s board reported to be unhappy at the lack of transfer fee involved in the deal, while other outlets claimed Bale pulled out over family concerns regarding the move to China.

Bale was in pre-season training with Madrid on Monday, but worked away from the rest of the squad.

Speaking to Omnisport on Monday, Bale s agent Jonathan Barnett indicated the 30-year-old could remain with the LaLiga giants as there are no other o…

Hull City’s future ‘in real danger’

Premier League strugglers Hull City could go out of business if they are relegated, auditor Deloitte has warned in the club s financial results.

Hull recently filed accounts for the year ending July 2008.

Deloitte says Hull need £23m to meet current liabilities and, if they go down, losing the £7m they get from the Premier League would be a major blow.

But the accounts cover the year before Hull s first Premier League campaign and the directors say the financial situation is much improved since then.

Hull, who are third from bottom of the Premier League, lost nearly £10m during the 12 months to July 2008, says Deloitte. During that time, the Tigers were promoted to the top tier via the play-offs.

Deloitte warns that even if they stay up …

Hirving Lozano has the tools to play in the Premier League  according to Mexico head coach Juan Carlos Osorio, who backed the PSV striker to take his side a long way at the World Cup.

Marko Marin set for Anderlecht switch

Belgian giants Anderlecht are expected to complete the signing of German midfielder Marko Marin from Chelsea, .

The 25-year-old has reportedly passed a medical in Brusells, with the transfer set to be made official later today.

La Derniere Heure has learned that Marin joins Anderlecht on a six-month loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Marko Marin was loaned to Fiorentina in the summer, but he in turn failed to make a single league appearance for Viola, only featuring in four Europa League fixtures.

As a result, the Serie A side probably do not mind cutting short his loan deal, which should allow him to move to Anderlecht during the winter transfer window.

Marin s career has been on a major downtrend ever since he joined Chelsea f…

Deschamps urges France to boost ranking

France head coach Didier Deschamps has targeted two wins this week to boost his team s ranking ahead of their World Cup qualifying play-off.

Deschamps side will face Australia in a friendly in Paris on Friday before Finland travels to the French capital for a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Looking ahead, Deschamps wants France to improve on their FIFA ranking of 25 with wins over Australia and Finland in the hope of being seeded in the play-offs.

Both games are important because we can get some FIFA points and with what migh…
