Lewandowski revels in ´incredible´ five-goal cameo

Robert Lewandowski admits it was an incredible feeling to score five goals in just nine second-half minutes as Bayern Munich thrashed Wolfsburg 5-1.

Daniel Caligiuri had put Dieter Hecking s side ahead at half-time, prompting Pep Guardiola to introduce Lewandowski to lift the champions lifeless performance.

And the Poland international did just that, bagging a hat-trick in four minutes before adding a fourth from close range and a sensational volley from the edge of the area for a fifth all within 15 minutes of the restart.

I am very satisfied, that was incredible, he told Sky.  I just wanted to shoot, I didn t really think what will happen afterwards.

Having been one down, we knew that we must improve and score twice at least. But five goals, that…

Barcelona squad tease Messi, Suarez and Neymar in rondo exercise

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have tormented many a defence during their time at Barcelona, but the tables were turned on them at training on Friday.

The much-vaunted MSN, who netted 122 goals between them as Luis Enrique s men won the treble in 2014-15 and added a further 130 in Barca s title-winning campaign last season, were asked to stand in the middle of the squad and try to get the ball back off their team-mates in an exercise known as the rondo.

The trio certainly didn t hold back, charging around before sliding into blocks Messi certainly proving he has overcome the groin strain that has sidelined him since the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on September 21.

But, much to the delight of the rest of the Barca players, their efforts proved in vain, …

Son not ´undroppable´ for Spurs, admits Conte

Son Heung-min is not  undroppable , admits Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, following a tough start to the season for the forward.

Son was arguably the standout performer under Conte last season, helping to fire Spurs to a top-four finish and Champions League football.

His tally of 23 league goals saw him share the competition s top-scorer award with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. No player has had more shots without scoring in the Premier League this season than Son (17).

But Son has struggled to maintain those standards this season, failing to score in his six league appearances and providing just one top-flight assist.

With Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski pressing to start ahead of this weekend s clash with lowly Leicester City, Son s place is under q…

Injured Luiz misses Chelsea trip to Basel

A knee injury will keep defender David Luiz out of Chelsea s UEFA Champions League clash with Basel on Tuesday.

The 2011-12 European champions revealed on Monday that Luiz is not in the 21-man squad for the trip to Switzerland as he requires on-going treatment on a bruised patella that saw him miss Saturday s 3-0 win at West Ham.

But manager Jose Mourinho is boosted ahead of the Group E clash by the return to fitness of club-record signing Fernando Torres.

Striker Torres has been sidelined since the start of the month with an adductor muscle problem and will be targeting a comeback when Chelsea go in search of a fourth successive win in the Champions League.

A point against the Swiss champions will see Chelsea through to the round of 16, but Mourinho will be taki…

Stevens replaces Gisdol at Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim have sacked coach Markus Gisdol following a dismal start to the Bundesliga season, appointing former Stuttgart boss Huub Stevens as his replacement until the end of the campaign.

Under Gisdol, Hoffenheim won just one of their opening 10 Bundesliga fixtures, with the 46-year-old leaving the club second bottom after two years in charge.

Gisdol, who signed a new three-year contract in April, was appointed as Marco Kurz s replacement in 2013 and kept the club up with a play-off victory against Kaiserslautern before securing a ninth-place finish in his first full season at the helm.

Hoffenheim, who finished eighth last term, will entrust Stevens with leading them away from the drop zone, the Dutchman having saved Stuttgart from the drop during two separate…

Best odds: 17/20

Bookmaker:

AC Milan are set to welcome Napoli to the San Siro stadium on Sunday for a game that s officially a part of round 27 of the 2020-21 Serie A campaign, though for Napoli it will be league match number 26.

AC Milan

It has mostly been a great season for the Rossoneri. They spent a large part of it at the top of the table, giving off a strong feeling that they could finally break the long reign of Juventus over Italian football, but things haven t been going that well lately and they ve relinquished the lead to Inter Milan, sitting six points behind their city rivals. Inter have 62, Milan 56, Juventus are third with 52, AS Roma fourth with 50, and Atalanta are fifth with 49. Milan are definitely not out of the title race, but they do have…

QPR 13/10 to beat Reading in Saturday’s Championship showdown

Market: QPR win

Odds: 13/10 @

Smelling the chance to extend on what has been a real early-season flurry, QPR will make the trip to Berkshire when they face off against a struggling Reading on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Reading might have managed to land that much-needed 2-1 win against Preston last month, it appears that was just a minor boost for the Royals. In the midst of what has become a nightmare run of form, the pressure is firmly on Veljko Paunović s shoulders when his side returns from the international break this weekend. Last seen signing off August with what was a woeful display on the road, Reading were hit with a dreadful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Huddersfield Town. Now losing each of their last three Championship conte…

Balotelli, Osvaldo in Italy squad

Milan striker Mario Balotelli has been included in Italy’s squad to face Argentina on Wednesday, despite fears over a calf injury.

The 22-year-old had been an injury doubt for the clash with the South Americans after being forced off during his side’s 2-0 International Champions Cup clash with LA Galaxy earlier in the week.

However, tests have since revealed that the problem is not as serious as first feared, meaning Balotelli has now been given the all clear to take his place in Cesare Prandelli’s 27-man squad.

He joins fellow forward Pablo Osvaldo in the party after the Roma man was left out of the FIFA Confederations Cup back in June following a public outburst at former coach Aurelio Andreazzoli.

Osvaldo is one of seven players absent from that tourname…
